Do you ever feel like you don’t fit in, or you just can’t keep up? Even when you do everything ‘right’ you don’t get the same results as your friends or colleagues, or even your clients! They surge ahead with seemingly boundless energy – serving customers, connecting on Facebook, writing blog posts, going out with friends, making dinner for their family, and cramming one more thing into an already busy schedule – while you’re ready for a nap after a two hour meeting!
I’m one of the latter – and up until recently thought there was something seriously wrong with me. For the last thirty years I’ve had my own business, and over those years I’ve burned out many times. Somehow, trying to follow the guidelines of successful marketing gurus never really worked for me. I can’t tell you how many fabulous classes I promoted that didn’t launch. It’s still embarrassing to admit even now!
The thing is, when I tried to follow others’ brilliant strategy, which energetically didn’t fit for me, I pushed people and opportunities away. I was starting to feel like a hamster spinning on a wheel in a very small cage, doing the same thing over and over and getting minimal results. Plus I felt ashamed and guilty for not meeting the culture’s standards for success.
Now, as I follow the strategy that is energetically correct for me as Human Design Projector, I feel like I’m flowing in a stream of possibilities. Resources are showing up in unexpected ways and I’m having a lot more fun. I’m beginning to accept that my rhythm doesn’t follow the drum beat of most people….. it guides me to meander, take pleasure in rest from which inspiration arises, come out to interact and play with others, then retreat back into stillness.
How did I come to discover this? Through getting sick one too many times, feeling desperate, literally being brought to my knees, and accepting an invitation to check out Human Design. Also I intuitively knew there was a more expansive way of being calling to me – but I didn’t know how to access it.
Human Design quite literally saved my life. As you may know, I am a life-long student, who passes the gifts of what I’ve learned onto my students and clients. The theme in all those teachings has been – be yourself. However, that was easier said than done!
Human Design has given me a map – and accurate directions – to be myself. This amazing technology, which synthesizes ancient esoteric wisdom of Astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, and Chakra system with Quantum Physics, reveals your individual energy blueprint: How you are designed to think, feel, love, work, take care of your family, and develop spiritually. It also gives you a simple strategy, which if followed, makes it easy for you to be yourself – and offer your unique contribution to the world.
In the Human Design paradigm there are five different types of people: Manifestors, Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, and Reflectors. If you’re Generator or Manifesting Generator (which makes up 75% of the population), you are a creator and builder. You dance with what life brings you, and have consistent and sustainable energy that allows you to go and go and go, until you collapse into sleep at the end of your productive day.
However, if you’re one of the other rarer types, say a Projector like me, your energy is VERY different. As a Projector you are not here to do, you’re here to BE. Your function is to rest, play and when invited, guide the generators of the world to be the worker bees! In a culture that glorifies ‘doing’ Projectors can struggle. Plus…. if you offer your assistance before you’re invited, people call you bossy or worse, ignore you.
On the other hand, if you follow your strategy, ‘Wait to be invited,’ others may see you as lazy and unproductive! The thing is, while you’re waiting, you don’t have to sit on the couch and watch television. You can write, hang out with friends, work on your website, take a yoga class, post on your blog, see clients, frolic with your lover – and ready yourself for the next invitation. And when that happens, you are a very powerful indeed.
Your inner light shines brightly, and you start to attract the correct people and circumstances to you. Perhaps you emerge as a great leader (Barack Obama is a Projector), a consultant for a business, a rock star (like Mick Jagger), a travel guide, a teacher, a parent, who knows!? You find your right place in the scheme of things, and realize you are authentically following your life purpose. You feel amazing, and everyone benefits.
